Tankers at Winslow-Lindberg Airport

Winslow-Lindberg Airport is home to an air tanker station. On Monday, June 13, A Lockheed P-3 Orion, a pair of Lochkeed P-2 Neptunes and a Skikorsky S-64 Skycrane visited the airport to support operations against the Wallow Fire. There were no tankers at the station about 11:00 AM on Monday. I returned at 2:30 PM. Aero Union Lockheed P-3A-45 Orion N921AU Tanker 21 had just landed.
Erickson Air Crane Sikorsky S-64F Skycrane N158AC was just passing through Winslow (for fuel) in route to San Diego from Charlotte, NC for a construction job. It was built for the civilian market in 1968. Its construction number is 64081. It is powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney JFTD12A-5A turboshaft engines.
Minden Air SP-2H Neptune N4692A Tanker 48 and a second P-2 landed and parked soon afterward. Tanker 48 was built in 1961. Its construction number is 7247. It flew for the US Navy as BuNo 148357. Charles Hainline of Albany, Oregon registered it as N4692A in 1997. Minden Air Corporation of Minden, Nevada acquired it in 2003. It is powered by a pair of Wright R3350-32WA Cyclone Turbo-compound 18-cylinder radial engines augmented with a pair of Westinghouse J34 turbojet engines.
Tanker 21 departed at 2:45 PM. It was delivered to the U.S. Navy as BuNo 151385 in September 1964. Its Lockheed construction number is 185-6098. It is powered by four Allison T-56-A-10W turboprop engines.
There was no further activity before I left about an hour later.
Tanker 21 was the only airplane at the tanker station when I arrived on Tuesday morning.
Tanker 21 departed at 10:11 AM.

Aerial tankers fought the Day Fire from the Santa Barbara Air Attack Station for ten days, from Monday, September 18 to Wednesday September 27. Three Lockheed P-2 Neptunes and four Lockheed P-3 Orions visited the Air Attack Station during the fire. This calendar includes a dozen photos of those tankers:
